Get your York business into the map results

The three map spots at the top of local searches come from Google Business Profiles. Here's what we review on yours.

Look up a plumber or a hair salon in York and the first thing on the screen is a map with three businesses. Many people choose from those three and never scroll.

Google fills that little map from Business Profiles. It sorts them by the category you chose, how filled-in your listing is, the reviews you've earned and how near you are to the person searching. Your address is what it is. Everything else on that list is fixable, usually for less money than any other marketing you could buy.

Our eight-point listing review

Part of the profileWhat we look at
Primary categoryThe one setting Google leans on hardest. Pick a near miss and you quietly lose searches.
Extra categoriesTwo or three that match jobs you truly take on. Padding them dilutes you.
Name, address, phoneWritten exactly the way your website writes them, character for character.
Service areaThe real towns on your route: York, Clover, Sharon, Lake Wylie. Not all of South Carolina.
ServicesNamed in plain customer language and tied to the matching page on your site.
PhotosCurrent shots of jobs, people and trucks, plus the gaps worth filling.
ReviewsTotal count, recent activity, your replies, and a simple link to request new ones.
Website linkAimed at the page that fits the listing, not dumped on the homepage.

What lands in your inbox

A prioritized punch list, biggest payoff first. The majority of it is stuff you can knock out yourself after closing time. On monthly SEO, a new punch list arrives each month.

Google Maps questions

Will you need to log in to my Google account?
Never. The check uses only what the public can see. Make the changes yourself from the list, or grant Roger temporary manager access and pull it whenever you want.
How soon does this pay off?
Fixing a mistaken category or an old phone number sometimes moves things within a few weeks. Photos and reviews are a slower, steadier climb.
My business runs out of a truck, not a shop. Does this matter?
It does. Service-area businesses can keep a home address private and list the towns they serve.

No cost, no pressure

Curious how your website looks to a York customer?

Send Roger the address. He'll open it on a phone, search for you the way someone in York County would, and email back a plain-English list of what's helping and what's losing you calls.
